Custom work, cover-ups, professional piercing, illustration and a room you can hire. Pricing is settled with your artist in person, never guessed at online.
Original work drawn around your idea — not picked off a wall. Black and grey or full colour, at any scale.
Every custom piece starts as a conversation and becomes a drawing made for one person and one body. Bring a reference, a rough sketch, a photograph or nothing but a description, and your artist builds the design with you before a needle is ever loaded.
A one-on-one sit-down with the artist of your choice to shape the idea, the placement and the plan.
Consultations are where size, placement, references, session count and availability get settled. It is also where your quote comes from — the studio prices in person, after seeing the idea, rather than guessing over the phone.
Reworking, redrawing or covering existing tattoos — including work done elsewhere.
Cover-ups are a design problem before they are a tattoo. Your artist will look at the existing piece in person, tell you honestly what can and cannot be hidden, and design around what is already there.
Body and oral piercings performed in a clean, professional studio environment.
Piercings are placed with the same care as tattoo work, with jewellery and aftercare explained before you leave. Written aftercare for both external and oral piercings is published on this site.
Illustration and original artwork beyond skin — the gallery side of the studio.
Detroit Ink Spot works as an artist studio as well as a tattoo shop: original illustration, artwork and design commissions, and a gallery wall that keeps the work in front of people who walk through the door.
The studio opens as a venue for showcases, shoots, pop-ups and private gatherings.
The space is available to hire for creative and private events. Every request is reviewed for availability, fit, capacity and venue requirements before anything is confirmed.
The studio's policy is that quotes are given in person, by the artist doing the work, after they have seen the idea, the size and the placement. A number posted online would be a guess — and guesses cost people money.
How It Works
From idea to appointment.
Every piece starts with a conversation, not a deposit. Here is the whole path, start to finish.
Look through the artists and the work, and pick the person you want to sit with. If you are not sure who fits the idea, say so — the studio will point you to the right artist.
02
Send a consultation request
Tell us what you are thinking: the idea, roughly where it goes, how big, colour or black and grey, and any reference you already have. Attach images if they help.
03
Sit down one-on-one
Every appointment starts with a one-on-one consultation with your artist. You will work through placement, size, references, session count and availability together.
04
Get your quote from the artist
Quotes are given in person, by the artist doing the work, once they have seen the idea and the placement. Nothing is priced over the phone or by guesswork.
05
Leave a deposit to hold the date
A deposit secures the appointment in the book. Once it is down, the time is yours and the artist begins preparing the drawing.
Before You Book
The house rules, plainly.
No small print and no surprises — this is exactly how appointments, deposits and changes are handled.
Deposits are non-refundable
A non-refundable deposit is required to schedule any appointment. The amount depends on the estimated cost of your project and is set by your artist at the consultation. The deposit comes off the final price of the work.
Quotes are given in person
Pricing is settled face to face at the consultation, after the artist has seen the idea, the placement and the size. The studio does not quote work sight unseen.
Rescheduling
Appointments can be rescheduled with at least 24 hours' notice. Give the studio a call as soon as you know — the earlier the notice, the easier the date is to move.
No-call, no-show
Missing an appointment without calling results in the loss of your deposit. Booking the time again means starting with a new deposit.
One person per practitioner
Appointments are one-on-one: please plan to come to your session on your own so each artist can work with their client without a crowded floor.
Age and identification
Editable placeholder — confirm the studio's exact age and identification requirements — including accepted ID and the policy for under-18s — before this site goes live.
Deposit amounts are set by your artist at the consultation and depend on the estimated cost of the work, so no figure is published here.
